As Manager of Advanced Materials Technology at Northrop Grumman Newport News (NGNN) David
brings more than 25 years of experience to the MSE Advisory Board. In this capacity he is
responsible for the NGNN R&D programs for metals, paints & coatings, composites/polymers,
environmental issues, advanced fabrication methods and other related technologies. He has been
involved in material research & development programs such as undermatched welding, welding
electrode development, investigations of different coatings, fabrication of high-strength
steels and many other material related technologies. He currently serves as the Co-Chairmen for
Virginia's Advanced Materials Sector Steering Committee. He is also a member of the Executive
Steering Committee for the Navy's MANTECH Composite Center, The Composite Consortium, and a
member of the Industrial Advisory Board for Jefferson National Laboratory. By completing the
NGNN Apprentice Program and graduating from Virginia Tech with a Material Engineering Degree,
he has the unique combination of the "waterfront hands-on experience" and technical background
of an engineer.
